WHAT are SPINAL ORTHOtics?
Action Brace and Prosthetic, Inc. works to provide our clients with spinal orthoses that provide the support necessary to assist them with the healing process while allowing them to be comfortable in their daily lives. A spinal orthotic is commonly used with cases of scoliosis, spinal fractures, muscle atrophy, osteoporosis, spondylolisthesis, spondylolitis, and even degenerative disc disease.
TLSO (Thoracolumbosacral Orthosis)
Thoracolumbosacral Orthosis
Patients requiring support/stabilization of thoracic and/or lumbar spine. Typical trim lines are supoerior to teh xyphoid and scapula. The type of material used determines the degree of stabilization.
COMMON DIAGNOSES
- Osteoporosis
- Compression Fracture
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Spondylolisthesis
- Spondylolitis
Jewett
Patients requiring hyperextension of mid-spin. Orthosis requires only one strap closure for don / doff.
COMMON DIAGNOSES
- Anterior Compressions Fracture
- Spinal Muscle Atrophy
- Osteoporosis
C.A.S.H (Cruciform Anteriror SPinal Hyperextension) Orthosis
Patients requiring similar control to a Jewett (mid-spine hyperextension), but with a lower profile, lighter weight design. Sometimes a C.A.S.H. is a better choice for older patients.
COMMON DIAGNOSES
- Osteoporosis
- Anterior Compressions Fracture
- Spinal Muscle Atrophy
- Spondylolisthesis
- Spondylolitis
Anterior Overlap (TLSO)
The Anterior Overlap TLSO is designed to treat mid to upper back problems in addition to lower back. This brace wraps around the body and extends from the bottom of the buttocks to just below the shoulders. This style of brace controls spinal problems in the lumbar and thoracic regions, by rigidity and controlling motion. The advantages of this design are that it has one opening for ease of donning and doffing. Also, the straps are on the anterior for easy adjustment and viewing.
Bi-Valve (TLSO)
The Bi-Valve TLSO is designed to treat mid to upper back problems in addition to lower back. This brace wraps around the body and extends from the bottom of the buttocks to just below the shoulders. This style of brace controls spinal problems in the lumbar and thoracic regions, by rigidity and controlling motion. The advantages of this design are that it has greater adjustability for weight gain and loss. This style also allows for ease of donning and doffing by care givers and is often used in post-operative situations.
Flex Foam (TLSO)
The Flex Foam TLSO is designed to treat mid to upper back problems in addition to lower back. This brace wraps around the body and extends from the bottom of the buttocks to just below the shoulders. This brace is designed for patients that cannot tolerate a rigid orthosis. The Flex Foam offers a softer inner layer of foam for the relief of bony prominences. This device combines the rigidity of a traditional orthosis with the comfort of a soft back brace. The rigid frame is placed on the outside for increased comfort.
Flex Foam II (TLSO)
The Flex Foam II TLSO is designed to treat mid to upper back problems in addition to lower back. This brace wraps around the body and extends from the bottom of the buttocks to just below the shoulders. The rigid frame is sandwiched between the two layers of foam for increased comfort and increased relief for bony prominences.
LSO (Lumbar Sacral Orthosis)
Lumbosacral Orthosis (LSO)
Patients requiring support/stabilization of the lumbar spine. Typical trim lines are inferior to the xyphoid and scapula.
COMMON DIAGNOSES
- Various fractures
- Status post fusion
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Spondylolisthesis
- Spondylolitis
