Tarsal bones - The bones between
the heel and forefoot of the foot.
Temporary Prosthesis - An unfinished
artificial limb designed to replace the amputated limb. Fabricated
and fit soon after surgery, to be worn while the residual
limb is healing and to accelerate the rehabilitation process.
Terminal Device - The portion of an
upper extremity prosthesis that replaces the hand, referred
to as a hook or prosthetic hand.
Test Socket - A socket, usually transparent,
which is used to evaluate the comfort and fit of the socket
before the fabrication of the temporary or permanent prosthesis.
Also, known as test socket or evaluation interface.
Thoracic Curve - A scoliosis curve
of the spine with an apex of the curve between the second
and eleventh thoracic vertebrae.
Thoracic Vertebra - The 12 spinal
vertebra to which ribs are attached.
Thoracolumbar Curve - A scoliosis
curve of the spine with its apex at the twelfth thoracic or
first lumbar vertebra.
Thoracolumbosacral Orthosis - (TLSO)
An orthosis (brace) which is prescribed to support or control
the spine from the pelvis to armpits.
Tibia - Located between the knee and
ankle on the medial side (inside edge of the leg). Also known
as the shin bone.

Torso - The chest and abdominal area,
also known as the trunk.
Total contact - Distribution of pressure
in a prosthetic socket to reduce pressure on the residual
limb.
Transfemoral - Amputation above the
knee.
Transhumeral - Amputation above the
elbow.
Transmetasatal - A partial foot amputation
through the metatarsal bones.
Transradial - Amputation below the
elbow.
Transtibial - Amputation below the
knee.
Traumatic amputation - The surgical
removal of a limb as a result of an accident or injury.
