Malleoli - Plural Malleolus.
Malleolus - The rounded bony prominence
on either side of the ankle joint.
Manual locking knee - This can be
used both for prosthetics and orthotics. It is when the device
is locked in complete extension, and the patient has to unlock
the knee by hand. Meaning there has to be some type of activation.
Muscle Contracture - A shortening
of a muscle. The muscle can not be actively straightened.
Myoelectric Prosthesis - The use of
electrodes mounted within the interface of an upper extremity
prosthesis. The electrodes detect the muscle contractions
as signals to activate the motors in the terminal devices,
wrist units and elbow joints of the prosthesis.
Myoplasty - Muscles anchored to opposing
muscles.
