Idiopathic - A medical term meaning
“cause unknown” used to describe medical conditions of unknown
origin.
Idiopathic Scoliosis - Curvature of
the spine, for which cause is unknown.
Immediate Post-Op Prosthesis - (IPOP)
A prosthesis applied immediately after surgery. Allows the
patient to wake-up to a prosthesis on.
Inferior - (when referring to the
body) Below another part of the body.
Inflammation - The irritation or injury
to an area that causes redness, swelling, heat and/or pain.
Interface - The surface of a prosthesis
or orthosis that is in contact with the patients skin.

Ischial Containment - A Transfemoral
prosthetic design that contains and covers the ischium.
Ischium (Ischial) Tuberosity - A bony
process on the inferior edge of the pelvic bone. This is the
part of the pelvis that is sat on.
